Wall Removal & Structural Beam Installation

This Richmond Hill renovation project focused on one of the most transformative upgrades in home design: the removal of a load-bearing wall to create an open-concept living area. The homeowners envisioned a more spacious, connected layout—and Ahoora Homes delivered just that with expert structural renovation solutions.

Because the wall was critical to the building’s stability, we approached the project with detailed engineering input and strict adherence to Ontario’s building codes. We collaborated with a licensed structural engineer to perform a thorough assessment and specify the appropriate Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) beam required to safely support the upper-level load.

To begin, temporary shoring walls were installed on both sides of the load-bearing structure. Once secured, we carefully removed the wall without damaging adjacent systems like electrical, HVAC, or framing. This precise demolition paved the way for the installation of a custom-sized LVL beam, supported by properly placed structural posts to transfer the weight down to the foundation.

Following final inspections and approval, we refinished the ceiling and surrounding surfaces to seamlessly integrate the beam into the existing design. The result was a clean, open-concept living area with better light flow, improved functionality, and a much more modern feel—executed safely and efficiently by our Richmond Hill renovation team.
